Ambi Power!

Success starts at the top of every great team and organization. Pat Riley and Mickey Arison are just as important in the Miami Heat’s success as Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Los Angeles Clippers spent decades failing to reach the playoffs and I attribute that to it’s Owner at the time, Don Sterling being a racist. These leaders may not be responsible for putting the ball in the basket but they either inspire or discourage everyone under their umbrella. The New York Knicks knew what they were doing when they brought in the Zen Master, Phil Jackson.

So what happens when you assemble more than 120 superheroes from around the world and bring them to be life coached in Whistler, Canada? I was fortunate to be a part of Lululemon Athletica’s Ambassador Summit last week. Any of it’s educators will tell you, their brand is about more than just black stretchy pants. Lululemon is a way of living your life to the fullest and changing the world! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Rob, the Ambassador Program Manager himself and driven to the Four Seasons Hotel in Whistler. Founder, Chip Wilson and CEO, Laurent Potdevin, were with us the entire time doing yoga, zip lining, eating dinner, sharing stories, and making us feel like family. We were coached on our own vision and goals by Susanne Conrad, the founder of igolu. She also led us in a Nia dance class that was more fun than a bar-mitzvah!

Wednesday was my birthday and I instructed a Cardio Lab style class for Lululemon inside the Four Seasons Gym. Everyone made the day special. I had the best roommate! Andrew is an owner and motivator at YYC Cycle in Calgary, Alberta. He stood up in front of all of the other ambassadors to tell them they had to hear my story. On my birthday he lit a candle and recruited a gang to sing happy birthday to me at lunch. I feel like a have a common bond now with 120 plus new friends that will last a lifetime! I’ve got their backs. One of them has a 12 year old son that will undergo brain surgery on July 8th to remove a tumor. He has a fundraising page set up to financially support his son Ethan’s recovery. Please visit http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/love-4-ethan/173079 to make a donation and share. Together we can help.

Calvin Harris’ hit “Summer” will be playing for a long time. The summer is almost here. Want to get your body ready for the beach? Try personal training with me or take my Cardio Lab class at Newton’s Method every Monday and Wednesday at 8:30AM. If you have a child looking for a place to play basketball this summer and improve their game, I will be teaming up with several camps including Fired Up Youth Sports, Courts 1on1, and Thunder Athletix. I will also take on select individuals for private lessons and even teach long distance via skype.

Namaste,

Doc
