Back To Cali
June 2nd, 2014
I can understand why Biggie & 2Pac fell in love with the west coast. It’s just so chill. This past weekend I had the chance to go back back to Cali Cali for the Rock N Roll San Diego Marathon and Half Marathon. This time I intentionally dribbled the half! As long as you can learn from your mistakes they’re not really mistakes.
It was quite a busy weekend for me. I arrived in classy San Diego on Friday and went directly to the Scott Kaplan Sports Talk radio show. His co-host Billy Ray attempted to hydrate me while I dribbled my basketballs and we spilled it all over me! Saturday I spent most of the day at the expo. I was interviewed on live tv and had a ball! I was happy to meet so many fans and followers! It’s humbling to hear other people’s stories of the different times they’ve ran with me and how I inspired them. I notice more and more runners snapping selfies with me in action during the race. I love it!!
Sunday was race day and I arrived early, had my bib, time chip, tattoos, balls, a new pair of lululemon pace breakers, my favorite socks, and matching shoes! After interviews with two different news stations before the race, I took off with Boston Marathon winner Meb! The race also featured several other legends in the running world including Ryan Hall but the one who stole the show was none other than 91 year old cancer survivor, Harriette Thompson. She set a new age group record and inspired everyone! Did you know that since 1988 the Leukemia and Lymphoma Team in Training has raised over 1.3 billion dollars for treatments that are saving the lives of blood cancer patients today? Incredible! Aloe Blacc headlined a concert following the race. Needless to say, I love Rock n Roll and can’t wait for my next one in Seattle just a few weeks away!
It’s quite common for unlikely doors to open up when you least expect it. So don’t ever give up or let a disappointment blur your vision. I learned all about having a vision and goal setting at Lululemon’s Ambassador Summit a month ago and those principles have stuck with me. It’s good to be an ambassador!! My picture just went up on the wall of Lululemon’s South Miami store. Stop by if you’re in the neighborhood. While you’re there I’m sure you’ll be quite happy with the new selection and always spectacular educators!
School’s out for summer! I love training people this time of year. Whether it’s personal training or basketball development, this is the time to make leaps and bounds with your results! Anything is possible with consistency. I’m excited to start working again with the best women’s player in the history of UPenn, Alyssa Baron! She’s all graduated and ready to start a career as a pro! I’ve also got sharp shooter Julian Marx back from Grinnell University where as a freshman last year he was 2nd in the country in 3’s made and 9th in 3 point field goal percentage! It’s a pleasure working with athletes that continue to strive for greatness, like King James and the Miami Heat!! Amazing how we’re going to the championship for the 4th consecutive year!
Miami es muy caliente!!!
